Jaxtr - Making cellphone/land lines call via voip

Jaxtr enables you to make local or long distance or international calls using your regular phone. You don't need a computer to make these calls. I have used jaxtr for quite awhile now(roughly 2 months since my first review). I must say that the service is good. At first I have doubts about the quality of the voice, since most of voip services depends on the Internet traffic. If there were congestion during traffic hopping, there would be lag, jitters, etc in the voice quality. However that's not the case with jaxtr.

I am assuming that they have some sort of customized SLA with whomever provided the network to ensure priority over their voice datas(I know I've worked in this field before :)) and it's not easy to get that.

I've managed to call people in Asia and get good feedback. It's like calling through a cellphone, no drops nor lag. It's like you are calling the neighbor next to you.

If there's any feature that I like is Jaxtr embedded widget on websites. Just like the one you see on my site, you can make a local call with the number that jaxtr provide you and then jaxtr will connect to local hub in your friend's area, so the call is local for both of you.

Here's something important you need to know. The connected calls are charge by the minute. When you first signed up with jaxtr you will get 100 free minutes. Afterwards you can get more minutes by signing up friends. So if you want to call your friend, a jaxtr user, you need to click his/her link. Jaxtr will then give you a local number to call your friend. It will then connect both of you voip style. You need to remember that whenever you make a call from your phone you will be charge by your phone provider(this has nothing to do with jaxtr).

In conclusion, I think I'm going to use this more often for my long distance calls, since it's a lot cheaper. I just have to worry about Jaxtr minutes and making sure I sign up more people for the free minutes. So try it yourself, sign up through my blog and help me get my minutes :D

AT&T wazzup ?!?

Still fresh with Iphone news, a lot of people complaining about AT&T service. Oh c'mon AT&T, you should have anticipated the Iphone explosion. It was the talk of the town everywhere, any conversation turns into Iphone, it's ridiculous.

If AT&T cannot live up its service on par with Apple's beautiful product shame on them. I just hope people(talking bout the non-geek) notice that it's not 'bad Apple' it's AT&T.

Iphone is here...argh get me one!!!

Well, finally the moment that everybody is waiting for..the Iphone. It's here!! You can't believe the mass hysteria over this product. You would think only geeks and nerds were camping out to get their first hand of Iphone. Apparently some of these people are just regular Joe's.

Well, I think they would just re-sell it on Ebay just like Nintendo or PS3 mobs. The long que of so many non-techies outside Apple and AT&T stores shows that Iphone appeals to a wide audience even if the hefty price tag + service ranges from $400 to $600.

It's a totally cool-looking new type of phone from Apple. There is no keyboard just screen, it's a combination of cellphone and Ipod.

I've been their Apple's follower for quite awhile. Apple has been making strong products for years, thanks to the taste of Steve-O...haha..I think their ads on TVs that shows Iphone's multitouch capability really grab people's attention. It's the first ever in a cellphone.

Check them here http://www.apple.com/iphone/

Here's a closer review a few months back by CBS

Anybody wants to buy me one?

Update on yak4ever.com

I just realized, with yak4ever.com you can only call countries listed in their website. And another thing, if after registering in their website you realized that you made a typo on your destination number(your family/friends phone number) on their website, you can't fix it. It's permanent..oh well...:(

I think I will not use this service for the time being.

Another free calls

Gee, apparently there are more of this type of VoIP interface enabled services that lets you make a national and international calls. Well some of them still beta, but hey I'll take any kind of freebies ok... ;P

This service let you make a call through your regular phone and I guess you are connected to your friends via internet, where their server would make a callback to both your phone and theirs.

So check it out friends and give me a ring.
