WWDC - Apple
Is it just me or this year's conference announcement is boring. There are moments when Apple's Steve Jobs seems to wake me up a bit. I was anticipating great things from his announcements.
There were a couple of good new features in Leopard. I especially like the way files can now be previewed like Itunes' coverflow which I think is just brilliant. Documents and applications are going seamlessly in and out of the desktop. Spaces, OK...ichat new feature with background live video...hmmm...OK.
I don't know it seems like there's not really a 'WoW' factor. Maybe it's because I followed two live blogs that sends continuous pictures minute by minute..aha... Or maybe because some of these announcements were old news(a repeat of Jobs' last announcement). Or maybe..:)..erm...some mac fan blame it on Bill Gates-Steve Jobs D5 interview(check the comic)
Anyway, apparently Iphone wouldn't have SDK, it's something that everybody is wishing for. Great products usually are accompanied by killer aps, whether they are brewed inside the company or out. Apple has had this experience with Itunes before. It didn't have a podcast feature in the beginning, it was just a hack that some enthusiasts did that now become mainstream (eventually Apple integrated it to Itunes). So a product has a better chance to be a killer ap with more brains plugged into it, you get a better turn-around rate with SDK!
Looking at the way things are going in the multi-touch arena, with Microsoft's table(surface computing) and Iphone, I think Apple is brewing something. Say maybe in Macbook line that will do multitouch(for keyboard and mouse) with coverflow to browse through files. I don't know just speculating here.
Anyway, I just hope that's where Apple future product would be and that next conference wouldn't be so boring anymore.
MEOW !!
